‘Poesia Muta’, the debut solo exhibition in Scandinavia by Italian artist Tomaso Binga (b. 1931, Salerno), is now open at Brigade.
Tomaso Binga is the artistic pseudonym of Bianca Pucciarelli Menna who adopted the masculine-sounding name in the 1970s to draw attention to the artworld’s privileging of male artists.
The exhibition features 150 contemporary and archival pieces that chart Binga’s longstanding interest in the interaction between language, social norms and the prevailing gender politics of any society.
The exhibition remains on view until 11 November and also features works by Belgian artist Sabina Alessi (b. 1968, Brussels) and Mexican artist Andrea Villalón (b. 1995, Uruapan) @andreavilllalon
